2015 Hyundai Sonata – “Evolved sophistication”

Redesigned for the 2015 model year, Hyundai’s seventh-generation midsize sedan includes the new “Fluidic Sculpture 2.0” design language that can also be observed in the Genesis.

A new chassis also improves the ride and handling of the 2015 Sonata, and the cabin has been intuitively reworked.

The 2015 Hyundai Sonata is one of the most affordable midsize sedans in its segment, and with it buyers can feast their eyes upon the automaker’s refined new model that blends sportiness with elegance. Sleek-looking bodylines and headlights, and a commanding grille give the 2015 Sonata a sense of presence and “evolved sophistication”.

Under the hood of the new midsize sedan, consumers will find a highly efficient 2.4-litre GDI 4-cylinder engine, generating 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a smooth shifting 6-speed automatic transmission, the 2015 Sonata offers a low combined fuel economy rating of 8.4 litres per 100 kilometres.

In addition, there are two engines offered with the new Sonata, the second being a powerful 2.0-litre Turbo GDI 4-cylinder producing an impressive 245 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Both engines provide good acceleration, and the suspension has also been “geometrically tweaked,” improving steering response and vehicle stability, making the ride more comfortable regardless if the road is smooth or rough.

And although the 2015 model has not yet been rated, the 2014 Hyundai Sonata received a 5-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It also managed to get the top Good score from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for four of the five crash tests.

Safety features that are considered “highlights” on the new 2015 Hyundai Sonata include Lane Change Assist. It works with the automaker’s blind spot detection system, and helps to reduce the possibility of an accident by warning the driver if lane change is not safe. Other technologies include lane departure and forward collision warning.

As for the interior features, buyers should first note that there is seven models from which to choose from, with the base trim level being the GL, and the top-of-the-line model the 2.0T Ultimate. The GL will provide consumers with comfortable seating and a nice setup. Drivers can add to the luxury and comfort with available leather sport seats that are ventilated, a power-adjustable driver seat with driver memory, and heated rear seats. Dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel (particularly useful during winter months), and steering wheel-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls are bound to add to the pleasure of driving the 2015 Sonata.

The convenience aspect is improved with features like a standard rearview camera, available rear park assist sensors, and Hyundai’s Drive Mode Select that can modify the personality of your Sonata by allowing the driver to switch between three driving modes (also standard). Adaptive cruise control is also a nice addition, and especially useful during long drives as it adapts the speed of your vehicle to the one in front of you, while maintaining a certain distance between both cars.

As for the entertainment aspect, satellite radio is standard on all models, and both the “Infinity” audio system with 9 speakers, and the navigation system are available as of the Limited trim.

Enjoy the all-new 2015 Hyundai Sonata with its refined styling, spacious interior, and improved ride and handling. The midsize sedan also offers a host of active safety systems that have been added on the 2015 model.
